JUSTICE ALITO SHOWS HIS "TRUE COLORS" AT THE STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS

Not exactly yelling "you lie", but just as obvious.

…Supreme Court Justice, "Samuel ´not-true´ Alito"

Can you believe it? Well, I guess I can believe it when a "dyed-in-the-wool" conservative calls out the President of the United States for bringing up, and criticizing, what will probably be determined as "one of the worst-ever decisions by the US Supreme Court".

During his State-of-the-Union address, the president looked directly at the front row of Supreme Court Justices and said; "With all due deference to separation of powers, last week the Supreme Court reversed a century of law that, I believe, will open the floodgates for special interests, including foreign corporations, to spend without limit in our elections." The president went on to say; "I don't think American elections should be bankrolled by America's most powerful interests or, worse, by foreign entities," Obama continued. "They should be decided by the American people. And I urge Democrats and Republicans to pass a bill that helps correct some of these problems."

During his comments, the conservative Justice, Samuel Alito, who was part of the 5 to 4 majority vote, was silently mouthing the words "not true, not true", as the other judges sat there totally expressionless. The Democrats in the chamber immediately burst out with loud applause as the Republicans sat there in stony silence.

The Supreme Court´s decision is more and more coming across as being part of a legal "set-up" to allow the current conservative majority in the court to get as many cases passed for supporting the Republicans before one of their older conservative judges retires. They are more than aware that an Obama selected judge to replace a conservative retiring judge would take away their current majority rule.

Why else would Chief Justice Roberts select a case that wasn´t directly about campaign finance, and then decide to make it into one anyway? Why not take a case involving a Democratic presidential candidate, and make Hillary Clinton´s case against her opponent´s illegal use of corporate funds to fund an "anti-Hillary" campaign film a "moot point"? And to make sure it was done in time for the next mid-term election donations, let´s "Fast-Trak" it to get it through the court in less than the usual 2-3 years, which they actually did it in less than 12 months.

Now that the case is over, any corporation, including foreign companies can "donate unlimited funds for supporting any US candidate or local / national issue they want to promote".

As expected, conservative legal groups have said it was the president who was wrong to have brought up the case in the State-of-the-Union setting. "The president's swipe at the Supreme Court was a breach of decorum, and represents the worst of Washington politics – scape-goating 'special interest' boogeymen for all that ails Washington in attempt to silence the diverse range of speakers in our democracy," said Bradley A. Smith, a former Federal Election Commission member and the chairman of the Center for Competitive Politics.

These are the guys that think that "corporations are persons" and that they deserve the same "rights of free speech as US citizens".

We must remember the words of FDR about the influence of big money in politics when he said; "Government by organized money is just as bad as government by organized mobs."

The progressive members of People for the American Way quickly sent out a YouTube clip of Justice Alito mouthing "not true" while praising the president for bringing up the decision.

And the conservative beat just goes on, and on, and on…….
