The historic contribution of Kennedy´s to American politics needs no elaboration. Caroline Kennedy´s words echoed feelings of Americans-both Democrats and Republicans- when she said "… they (Ted and Obama) share a commitment to the timeless American ideals of justice and fairness, service and sacrifice, faith and family".
Caroline´s words are no ordinary words. They are the gist of Kennedy´s struggle for America and American values. Her father late president J.F.Kennedy paid the ultimate price for protecting these values. Caroline as one of the torchbearers of (this) Kennedy legacy has placed huge responsibility on Obama to protect and restore true American values. In personal capacity, this is a best gift that a daughter of a late American president could have given to the Democratic Party´s presumptive presidential nominee.
The independent observers have acknowledged that Mrs. Obama´s speech has been a success http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/08/25/michelle-obamas-high-note/index.html?ref=opinion. The Harvard graduate Michelle Obama has bloomed to be what she always was- a confident, mature and educated wife. She is more than ready to support to her husband as ´Joneses´ embark on the historic voyage of general election.
Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean´s words, "we are ready to compete in all 50 states in November" is the opening narrative of Democratic victory in general election. The remaining days of convention will support the assertion as 4 million newly recruited Democrat young voters will make history by voting Obama to be the next US president. Democrats are much closer to winning the general election requiring 270 votes. They are already hovering around 221 votes against Republican´s 189 votes.
The different polls perception that 28 percent Democrats following ´Regan Democrats´ could end up as ´McCain Democrats´ will be surprised to see the Hillary supporters making a pragmatic shift and endorsing Obama once both Hillary and Bill Clinton speak in the Convention. The will go ´far enough´ to keep the party united because they know that the Democrat voters are hungry to see their president in the White House. The McCain supporters like rest of America will see ´Party Unity´ both in rank and file at its best.
The issues are economy, taxes, fuel prices, US image in rest of the world. The reports show that Obama campaign by proposing 1300-dollar tax cut to average American family earning around 70,000 dollars is translating promises of hope and change into concrete reality. The party insiders promise lot of real commitments during Obama´s acceptance speech.
Similarly, Democratic Party by making faith as part of the election campaign has taken a bold initiative to appeal to the America that does not stand for war, opposes polices that spread poverty within the country and rest of the world and respect life. The average American respects and believes in these values. Democratic Party as party of average Americans ought to respect and promote good values. There is no reason why these values should not be promoted.
The festive feeling in Denver shows that a political party has come to town. The predictions of Republican spin masters of divided Democratic Party and possibility of resurgence of 60´s like situation are turning out to be inflated. The atmosphere in Denver is showing America and rest of the world that Party is united. Therefore, it can be safely predicted that Obama will emerge stronger with double-digit lead over McCain as Democratic Party Convention heads for final day.
McCain will have come with concrete proposals for average Americans in terms of pocket book issues to stay in the race because it is show time in American presidential election with little space for negative election campaign. Average American is waiting to hear what both candidates have to say on economy, taxes, fuel prices and ending two wars to improve US image in rest of the world.
