Briarcliff is a waterfront community on Lake Travis around 45 minutes west of the downtown Austin area. This small city used to feel pretty far out from much of anything, but that has really changed. As Austin has grown to the west and new businesses have opened up, Briarcliff isn´t that far from just about everything any more.

Just a little over 10 miles from the city of Bee Cave, Briarcliff is within 15 minutes of the new Hill Country Galleria Mall. A new regional medical center being built in Lakeway will have medical care much closer to Briarcliff residents and that is a great thing. Being in the Lake Travis Independent School District (LTISD) is also wonderful. The LTISD is one of the best school districts in Texas and that is great for families with kids and also for resale value.

All you have to do to understand the name Briarcliff is ride by in a boat. What you will see are waterfront homes on a cliff above Lake Travis. Access to the docks is usually stairs bolted into the rock that traverse down to the water. You will also see trams and elevators down to the lake. While you probably won´t see a bunch of thorny bushes, I´m sure they were there before the area was developed.

Being on Lake Travis and in the Central Texas Hill Country, some of the homes in Briarcliff have amazing views. Some of the streets in Briarcliff are surprisingly high above the lake. Although not actually on Lake Travis, some of the homes have absolutely spectacular views.

Although small, Briarcliff has a lot to offer. With its own marina, Briarcliff residents have access to Lake Travis, one of the premier lakes in all of Texas. With deep waterfront on the main body of Lake Travis and also on a deep cove, Briarcliff also has waterfront homes. Briarcliff is also home to Willie Nelson´s 9-hold Pedernales Golf Club. I´ve heard that Willie and others who use his Briarcliff studio can be seen at times on the golf course.

The Lakehouse Café is also worth visiting if you get out to Briarcliff. This is one of those places that doesn´t look like much when you drive up, but the food is good, the atmosphere is relaxing and the view of Lake Travis from the deck is fabulous.

Homes in Briarcliff can be relatively inexpensive. A nice starter home can still be purchased for either side of $200,000. Waterfront homes in Briarcliff can range from $600,000 for an older home to over $1 million.
